Together with PHSA, we have developed a workplan consisting of three work packages to help PHSA incorporate economic evidence into obesity prevention decision-making.
The three work packages have been designed to:
- Estimate the cost of overweight and obesity in South Australia
- Assess the value for money of the economic evaluation of outdoor advertising restrictions in South Australia
- Undertake economic analyses of prioritised obesity prevention interventions and rank them using a decision-making framework
The need
PHSA identified the need to procure health economics services to incorporate economic evidence in decision-making.
Impact
Up to date estimates of the cost of overweight and obesity in South Australia to highlight the need to take action.
Economic evaluation of an Australian first policy to restrict the marketing of unhealthy foods and drinks on Adelaide Metro buses, trains and trams. The evaluation will assess the value for money of the policy from a societal perspective.
